Burning Hot.

This is what a body looks like when it's burning hot. Sure it was 92 degrees outside. What was I to do, stay in and complain about the heat? I think not. I had a 8 mile run planned.
I took care of business as usual and got it done. I don't advise running in those kinds of temperatures. However, if you must, look for sprinklers on your route. They can be a life saver. Afterward, reward yourself with an ice cold bath. Take care of your health, Run!

The heat is on!    Until next time, stay safe.

Arms Race

I like to think that when I'm running and pumping my arms,
I'm somehow generating force that propels me faster and delays
fatigue. I guess it pays to have strong arm, or is it just me.

Arm yourself!         Until next time, stay safe.

Drinking Problem?

An underwatered workout is insufficient. You won't last long, you accomplish little, and it's hard to recover. Reason is, the human body requires water to lubricate the joints, digest food, transport nutrients, and flush waste. In addition, it helps carry oxygen and fuel to working muscles. Not to mention , in the form of sweat, it keep your body temperature in check when you're pushing through the last miles of your marathon. If you're not well hydrated, you have a drinking problem and need rehab. With that said, you need to drink, drink, and drink some more. If you wait until you're thirsty, it's to late. Try sipping liquids throughout the day.

And that's how to keep it moving!                Until next time, stay safe.

Bend a little, Give a little

Want to start your day off right, try this. As soon
as you get out of bed, stretch. Nothing too involved.
Just 10 minutes of routine stretches will do. Do it
everyday, workout or not.

And that's how you keep it moving!  Until next time, stay safe.

Running Made Easy

Lay out your running clothes the night before. Spring out of bed, put them
on and you're ready to go. If you work out in the afternoon, pack your gym
bag before you go to bed and leave it at the front door. No need to rush.
Enjoy that cup of coffee.

And that's how you keep it moving!  Until next time, stay safe.

Think

I run because long after my
footprints fade away, maybe I
will have inspired a few to
reject the easy path, hit the trails,
put one foot in front of the other,
and come to the same conclusion
I did: I run because it always takes
me where I want to go.

Are you leaving footprints?    Until next time , stay safe.

Like a stroll in the park

The Winter Garden 10k had it all. We were blessed with perfect weather, good scenery and a nice crowd. This race is to be enjoyed. I settled in at an easy pace and had fun. No need to go all out unless you're there to improve your personal best. It was great. I even had time to make small
talk with the wonderful volunteers. How nice was that. Enjoy life, RUN!.

Showtime

Last weekend was the 'Season 52' 5k run in Winter Park. Next weekend it's the Winter's Garden 10k . Am I ready ? We all know the answer to that.  It's a longer race and I'm just fine with that. A runner is always prepared.  Running is what we do. See you there.

Staying ready is what drives us!  Until next time, stay safe.

End of an Era.

After thirty- seven years and over a 100,000 miles, I'm reasonable
sure that today was my last 5k. 'An end of an era'. I'm leaving the
fast running to the younger crowd. Don't get me wrong. You can
run them year-round. However, if you are a competitor, you have
to realize your limitations. Running a 5k is taxing, not to mention
the hugh crowds and the narrow streets . It's time for me to concentrate
on longer distances. If you happen to see me at a 5k event in the future,
you can be reasonably sure that I'm just out for a jog or walking.

An end signals a new beginning !     Until next time, stay safe.

Think

Believe that you can run farther or faster.
Believe that you're young enough, old
enough, strong enough ,and so on to
accomplish everything you want to do.
Don't let worn- out beliefs stop you
from moving beyond yourself.

Ease on down the road

There are days when you're bound to be off your game and
you feel as if a run would put you in ICU or the family's plot.
Not to fret. Just lace up and start walking. When the zombie
feeling disappears, start running. Ease into it.

No need to carry a heavy load!   Until next time, stay safe.

Nothing But A Number

We've all heard the old saying 'Age is just a number'.
As Mark Twain once said "Age is an issue of mind over
matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter" I've been
blessed to be able to run all my life. I was always running.
Running to something or away from something, I just ran. Now
I run for enjoyment. I guess I'll be running until my number
is up. I pray that it's not today." It's my birthday!" Gotta go.
My running shoes are waiting. "peace out."

Numbers matter on bank statements!   Until next time, stay safe.

Blast from the past

Two of my music players from back in the day.
Surprisingly, they worked pretty well. I remember
blasting the Bar-Kay's 'Shake Your Rump To The Funk.'
and the Isley Brothers  ' For The Love Of You.'  Those
were the good old days. Wait a minute. What am I saying!
' The good old days' I blasted them on my run today.
The Sony Walkman disc. It replaced my cassette
walkman. Couldn't make my long runs without
them. Enjoy life, 'Run'. Can you dig.

Create your memories!   Until next time, stay safe.

Running smart

Keep in mind that those new Hoka's I have are designed for comfort and not for speed.  If running fast is your thing, stick with what you have. However, if you have issues with your knees, you might want to
move up to the cushioning department. The longer you run, the more your joints will appreciate being on cloud nine.

Run smart!  Until next time, stay safe.

Cloud Nine

I just purchased a pair of running shoes.
and buyer's remorse has started to set in. To
afraid to get them dirty. Might have paid
to much. They look funny on my feet. My
mind is foggy. Why is this happening, they're
just running shoes. No they're not! They are
the Lamborghini of runnineg shoes. "Hoka
Bondi 4s ." They are the best cushioned
shoes I've ever owned. Check them out. They
look a little different and takes some getting use to
Nevertheless, they are a trip to Cloud Nine!

Dare to be different!   Until next time, stay safe.
